Thank you so much to all of you who donated time, money, equipment, and food for the Hayward Lutheran 135^th anniversary picnic on September 18. The rain could not dampen our spirits and much fun was had by all who attended!

Almost since I walked in the door of Hayward Lutheran Church last July, people have been asking me: When is your photo going to go up on the Pastor Wall of Fame? I found this pretty humorous, as I was not about to go out on my own to have my picture taken so it could be displayed for all to see. But many have wondered when our wall would be updated. Well, wonder no more, my friends, as we prepare to have everyone’s picture taken for the new pictorial directory! Be prepared to smile!

It has been ten years since Hayward and Trondhjem have had new photo directories, and I hope you will all participate so we have an accurate reflection of our church family. Each family that participates will get a free directory and a free 8X10 family photo, with the option to purchase more in time for Christmas. And of course, we will be taking staff photos as well. That wall of pastors will finally have a picture of me.

Our photo sessions will be Thursday and Friday November 3 and 4, from 2:30 to 9 p.m., and Saturday, November 5 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. If for some reason those are bad times for your family (gotta get those college kids in the photos!) Salem Lutheran Church is Albert Lea is also doing directory photos October 25-29 and we can contact them about squeezing folks in. Plan on it taking up to an hour for check-in, photos, and photo selection – that’s right, you get to see the photos right after they are taken!

Trondhjem folks should mostly be signed up by now, but Hayward will be signing folks up for photo times during the first few weeks of October. Thank you to everyone at both churches who will be helping people sign –up and serve as hosts and hostesses during the photo sessions. Bobbi will also be working hard to make our membership roster as accurate as possible, and she and I will both work on the layout – be sure to send me any photos you have of the church and our activities. I can’t wait to receive our new directory and see all the faces of our parish smiling back at me!

As a community of women created in the image of God, called to discipleship in Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves to grow in faith, affirm our gifts, support one another in our callings, engage in ministry and action, and promote healing and wholeness in the church, the society and the world.

Dear WELCA Members,

Thanks you so much for your recent offering to the Hayward/Trondhjem/Oakland/Moscow youth fund. It will take many youth on trips in the infamous “white van”! From attending sporting events to kayaking, swimming, canoeing, skating,…the list goes on…our youth are learning while having fun. They are learning to enjoy the great outdoors. They are experiencing meeting new friends, sharing with them and caring about them. All this in a good Christian atmosphere. We are blessed to have Pastor Bob and Pastor Katie leading our youth! Once again, thank you for your contribution. God’s Blessings, Moscow and Oakland Lutheran Congregations

ALTAR GUILD

WOULD YOU LIKE TO CONTRIBUTE FRESH FLOWERS?

Fresh flowers for the altar are a beautiful addition to our worship service. If you wish to furnish flowers, all you need to do is call the Altar Guild president, Marlene Thompson (373-3895). The Guild will purchase and display the flowers for you, and if you wish, will put an acknowledgement in the Sunday bulletin. Cost of the flowers is usually about $20. Your generosity and support are greatly appreciated. Thank you.

News From Oakland-Moscow!!

:: Oakland Lutheran lutefisk dinner  will be Sunday, October 9th.  There will be 4 one-hour shifts beginning at 3 PM.  Tickets are $15 for adults, 7.50 for children under 12. Pre-sale only, no tickets at the door.  Call to reserve tickets 373-1737 (church) or 437-2641 (Sue Berg). ::

:: November 5th: Moscow Lutheran's Hunters Lunch, to be held at the Moscow Town Hall from 9 AM - 2 PM. ::
